Obituary of William F. Bannister
William F. Bannister, age 86, of Long Lake, died Tuesday, May 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Port Huron Michigan, July 3, 1934 to the late Joseph and Vida (Hartwick) Bannister. After playing ball to the age of 55, he was inducted into the Northeastern Michigan Baseball League Hall of Fame. He enjoyed being in his 40 acre woods, where he enjoyed archery and rifle hunting. Although he loved his family, his grandchildren were the light of his life, and he was central to their memories of hunting, bonfires, and boating with him. He retired from Consumers Energy where he worked as a lineman for 30 years. He also served his country and was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife Janet; daughter Lisa and husband Dan, son Steve and wife Theresa; 5 beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Shane, Jason, Collin, and Carah; sister, Mary Lou Bonnau and brother Ray Bannister. He was predeceased by his brother, Bud Bannister.
A family farewell gathering is being planned, with final interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. He will be deeply missed by us all.
