Obituary of Ruth Metcalf Mitchell

Mitchell, Ruth Mary (Metcalf) Midland, Michigan Ruth Mitchell, age 96, passed away peacefully in Midland on Monday June 8, 2020. Ruth was born in Saginaw, Michigan on January 14, 1924 to the late George F. and Jean (Hill) Metcalf. Ruth was a life time member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Midland, a member of Kings Daughters of Midland and PEO chapter CZ. Ruth volunteered for over 25 years at MidMichigan Medical Center as a Yellow Lady, she was known as the Christmas sock lady having knitted over 300 + Christmas stockings for family and friends. Ruth traveled all around the world and enjoyed, skiing, golfing, boating and antiquing. Ruth is survived by her daughter Mary (Ed) Mahoney of Hubertus, Wisconsin, and her daughter in law Barbara Mitchell. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 11 great grand children and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald L. Mitchell, 2 sons Steven and Thomas Mitchell, a grandson Steven Mahoney, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to; George Francis and Jean Hill scholarship fund at MPC, Midland.
