Obituary of John F. Fournier

Fournier, John F. Bay City, MI John, age 83, died at home April 7, 2020. He was born April 5, 1937 to the late John Franklin and Mary M. (Mason) Fournier. He was raised in Bay City and on October 3, 1959, married Joyce Ransier. They celebrated 60 years of marriage and were together until his death. John was employed at GM Powertrain in Bay City as a Machine Repairman, retiring in 1998 after 40 years of service. John enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed all social gatherings, playing golf and horseshoes, and especially his home on the water. For most of his life, John was coaching kids in softball, football, and basketball. In October 2017 he was inducted into the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame for the 1965 undefeated football season at Visitation High School. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Fournier; his children, Laura Fournier Heffernan, Patti (Steve) Huffman, Paul (David) Fournier, Carla (Gary) Collins; grandchildren, Jonathan (Jessica) Fournier, Caty (Chris) Weihl, Eric Weihl, Brian Heffernan, Alison Heffernan, Scott Heffernan, Austin Collins, Jackson Collins, and great-grandchildren, Ryder James Fournier, Brooks Michael Fournier; two sisters, Nancy Sullivan and Judy (Colon) Proctor; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his eldest son, Michael John Fournier and his sister, Jane Fournier Weiler. A private memorial service is being planned.
