Obituary of Otto Robert Gath

Otto Robert Gath, age 80, of St. Charles, Michigan passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020 after several months of declining health. He passed away peacefully in his home with his wife Julie and their children by his side. Otto was born in 1940 and grew up in Merrill, Michigan. He married Julie in 1978 and settled in St. Charles where he raised his children. He worked as a Floor Inspector at General Motors for 33 years, retiring in 1992. Those who know Otto, know that he was a man of very few words who never wanted to be the center of attention, but his love ran deep. He will be remembered as a very strong and hardworking man who strove for perfection in every single thing he did, something he has passed on to his children. In his later years, he found joy in playing golf, going for bike rides on the bike trail near his home, maintaining his lawn, and spending time with his children, but the true light of his life was watching his grandchildren Connor and Corryn grow with his wife Julie. Otto was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Elsie (Dingler) Gath; his siblings, Art Gath and Joyce Wenzel; and his oldest son, Bobby Gath. He is survived by his wife Julie Gath; his children, Tammy Myers and her husband Jordan of Grand Rapids; his son, Scott Gath and Amanda Mort of Oakley; his daughter, Kathy Lockwood and her husband Paul of Lexington, North Carolina, and his daughter Misty Mills of Denver, Colorado, as well as 6 grandchildren; Timothy, Kali, Maddox, grandchildren, Connor& Corryn; and a great-granddaughter, Emily. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Gerald Wenzel; sister-in-law Karla Gath; mother-in-law Mary Erskine; brother-in-law Herb Yurgens; sister-in-law Mary Fouss; and sister-in-law, Jan Ryder of Dallas, TX; in addition to many special nieces and nephews, including Debbie Suppes and Rick Gath who always held a special place in his heart.
