Obituary of Judith "Judy" A. Eggert

Judith "Judy" A. Eggert, age 57, of Vassar, Michigan passed away Friday, August 7, 2020 after battling leukemia. Judy was born January 18, 1963 in Caro, to the late Franklin and Marilyn Ezakovich. She married Greg Eggert on August 19, 1988 in Biloxi, Mississippi. A 1981 graduate of Caro High School, Judy received her Associate Degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Jefferson Davis Campus in 1993. Supporting Greg in his military career, Judy continued her education after moving to Grafton, North Dakota in 1994, graduating in 1998 from the University of North Dakota, College of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She began her nursing career at Altru Heath System in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and also served as an EMT with Valley Ambulance and Rescue Service in Grafton. After Greg's military retirement, they returned home to Vassar, Michigan in 2003. Judy began working at Bay Medical Center in Bay City Michigan in the Critical Care Unit, where she was awarded a Nursing Excellence Award in 2011. She created Nursing Sparks newsletter, the newsletter for nurses, by nurses. Judy also became a union steward for SEIU. She most recently worked in the Emergency Room at McLaren Bay Region Hospital. She was an active member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the nurse service organization. Judy was certified as a CCRN, which less than 20 percent of the practicing critical care nurses in the U.S achieve. Judy had a life-long passion for saving animals. She was a real-life angel whose laugh and smile lit up a room. Judy loved kitchen gadgets and scoring crystal animals for her collection. "I'll go anywhere as long as there is a gift shop!" Judy will be dearly missed by her husband, Greg and many extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to continue Judy's passion for saving animals by considering a Memorial Contibution to www.catwoodfarm.com. "Working for cat food money" According to her wishes, Judy will be cremated and then entombed at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Michigan.
