Obituary of Mary Margaret Pittel
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Mary Margaret Pittel of Saginaw, MI. She passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at the age of 76, surrounded by her loving sons.
Mary Margaret (Cross) Pittel was born to parents John & Edna Mae Cross on October, 4, 1943, in Detroit, MI. She grew up as the youngest of two and attended Sacred Heart Academy. She worked at Max Machine in Warren, MI, after graduation, and met her husband while employed there.
Mary Margaret married Thomas Pittel in 1974, and the couple had three children. Mary Margaret became a stay at home mother to three rowdy boys and took on the title of chaos coordinator. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost, Mary Margaret treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She was a very active volunteer and an avid football, soccer, wrestling, and track mother in Hemlock Community schools while her sons attended. She especially loved her role as Nana; her grandchildren Gavin, Alexis, Alan, Kylie, Adalyn, and Mia, were the joy of her life.
Mary Margaret was an extremely loving and caring woman; she was the first to offer a kind word and always made the people around her laugh. No one, not a single soul, wanted for comfort when she was around, and that endeared her to all. She was a dear friend to many, and will be sorely missed.
Mary Margaret is survived by her sons, John (Kim Pangborn-Pittel), Brian (Tania Tennant-Pittel), Scott (Dana Glynn-Pittel); her sister, Joanne (Cross) and husband Jack Martin, and Geri (Pittel) and husband Ronald Compton. She is also survived by six beautiful grandchildren (Gavin, Alexis, Alan, Kylie, Adalyn, and Mia). She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Pittel.
