Obituary of Lon Lawrence Gallagher

Lon Lawrence Gallagher, age 73 of Mayville Michigan, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at McLaren Lapeer Region in Lapeer, Michigan. Lon was a resident of Mayville for more than 30 years, and previously resided in Clio, Michigan. He was born January 26, 1947 to the late William and Valentean (McKeon) Gallagher. Lon was a veteran of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He retired from General Motors. He was an avid archer and sportsman, hunting all game and loved to fish. He delivered meals on wheels for our senior community and was a member of The Golden Years Club. He was also a member of the Mayville Lions Club, Michigan Recreation Vehicle Riders Association, Flint Bowman, and a member of the Vassar Eagles for many years. Lon is survived by his daughters, Janet Lynn Scott (Matthew) of North Pole, Alaska, Gail Rose Wing (Dave) of Lapeer, Michigan; grandchildren, Douglas Scott of Washington, Zachary Meerschaert of Lapeer, Amelia Jameson (Kevin) of Pennsylvania, and Joseph Meerschaert (Shayna) of Fostoria MI; sister, Maureen Schultz (Robert) of Durand; brother, Tim Gallagher (Paula) of Holly; sisters-in-law, Linda Gallagher of St. Helen and Nancy Gallagher of Mt. Morris. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Lon was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Cheryl Ann; and siblings, Bill, Ray, Tom, Eva, Mike, Greg, and Randy. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
