Obituary of Paul Evert Wenzel

Wenzel, Paul Evert Sr. Merrill, Michigan Mr. Wenzel, age 88, passed away on Sunday August 23, 2020. Paul Evert was born in Merrill on March 3, 1932 to the late Ira and Vera (Tester) Wenzel. Paul was a longtime member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Saginaw, MI. Although Paul was a well respected drainage contractor in the Merrill area for over 35+ years, he was previously employed by Baker Perkins in Saginaw Michigan for over 29 years. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Ann Wenzel, whom he married on December 25, 1954 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Michigan. Also surviving are their children, daughter, Terri Lynn Burns of Orland Hills, IL; son, Paul Evert (Beth) Wenzel Jr. of Merrill, MI; grandchildren, Jessica (Jamison) Sullivan of Hemlock, MI, Kara Wenzel of Merrill, MI, Jacob Wenzel of Honolulu, HI, Megan Wenzel of Cayce, SC; great-grandchildren, Cole Sullivan and Payton Sullivan of Hemlock, MI; brother, Virgil (Lena) Wenzel of Freeland, MI; sister, Dawn Scholl of Merrill, MI; many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and many wonderful friends, that surrounded Paul throughout his life also survive. Paul's last wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread by his family. There will be a private celebration of life for an incredible man who was loved by all.
