Obituary of Ralph Edward Rasch

Rasch, Ralph Unionville, MI Ralph, age 73, passed away peacefully at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, MI on December 9, 2020. He was born in Mount Clemens, February 12, 1943 to Horace Edward and Lillian Mae (Wilson) Rasch. On July 5, 1968, Ralph married the love of his life, Ruth Zuschlagh whom he met while in the U.S. Army, stationed in Kassel Germany. They lived in his hometown of Unionville. Ralph was employed with General Motors/UAW for 37 years. He completed the Millwright Apprenticeship as a journeyman in 1981, he took the assignment in 1988 as a Health and Safety trainer, becoming Coordinator in 1995. He was elected Vice-president of UAW Local #362 in 1993, and was re-elected in 1996. Ralph was an avid and very respected member of the community as well, serving as Director of the Gateway Sportsman Club for 2 terms, was a member of the Sebewaing American Legion Post # 293, and Commander of the Unionville American Legion Post #421 in 1980. Ralph served as a member of the Unionville Village Council and finished his term as Village President in November 2020. Ralph was a Candidate for Tuscola County Commissioner and Chairman of the Democratic Party in Tuscola County in 1976, and was an active member with the UAW Local # 362 Committeeman with multiple roles from 1975-1980 and 1987-1999. Ralph served the U.S. Army for 3 years as Clerk/Typist with Top Secret Cripto Security Clearance. Ralph had a love for fishing, hunting, golf, cards, poking fun, and spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren. Ralph was definitely ONE OF A KIND and had an overwhelming compassion to serve, love, and help everyone he met. Ralph is survived by his wife, Ruth Rasch his children, Hans (Meachelle) Funk of Reese and Christine Soriano of Sterling Heights; grandchildren, Regan and Garen Soriano, Adiana and Grant Funk; mother, Lillian Rupp; sister, Katherine Dorsch; brother, Russell Rasch; several nieces, nephews, and many extended family and friends. Ralph was predeceased by his father, Horace Edward Rasch; aunt, Margaret Steffens; brother, Larry Rasch; nephew, Derrick Rasch; sister-in-law, Christine Rasch. He will be sincerely missed and loved by all whose lives he touched. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Unionville Gateway Sportsman Club in the summer of 2021.
