Dave Leichner

Obituary of Dave Leichner

Leichner, Dave Saginaw, MI Passed away on January 12, 2021, aged 69 years. He was born on April 9, 1951 to the late Alexander Leichner and the late Margaret Luella (Moore) Leichner in Saginaw, Michigan. Dave graduated from Buena Vista High School, where he played football and helped his team win back to back State Championships in 1966 and 1967. In 2013 he and the rest of the team were inducted into the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame. He received his Associates Degree from Delta College in 1971. Dave loved music, sports, and making people laugh. He also enjoyed anything to do with the lakes of Michigan. He loved to swim, boat, or just sit and look out upon the water. He also loved to drive, and it wasn’t unusual for Dave to take a drive up north to just sit by a lake and enjoy the day, then drive back home. Dave loved helping others, and in addition to being charitable to anyone he met who seemed down on their luck, he also gave annually to many charities, including the Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Dave is survived by his son, Jason David Leichner; his sister, Linda (Michael) Kerby; his aunt, Alvina Sedwick; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by many aunts and uncles, and very special cousins. A celebration of life will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers, those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
