Virginia Hagley

Obituary of Virginia Lou Hagley

Virginia Lou Hagley left us to be reunited with her husband on January 20, 2021, at her home with family beside her. Virginia was born in Bay City, Michigan on May 26, 1933 to Frank and Delia (Dining) Moore. She grew up in Pine River before her family moved to Standish, where she graduated from Standish High School. There she met the love of her life, Louis Hagley, whom she married November 10, 1951 to begin their family on the Hagley Farm north of Standish. Virginia worked alongside her husband on the farm where they raised three sons and one daughter. Her family grew up on home-cooked meals, wonderful hand-made bread, fresh and canned garden vegetables, and wore clothes that smelled wonderful from being dried outside “on the line.” The door to Louis and Virginia’s home was always open: friends, relatives, children, children’s friends – all were welcome and treated like family. “Grandma Gin” was gifted with artistic talent, and loved to draw and craft, and her baked goods were legendary. But above all, she was selfless in devotion to her husband and family. Left behind to cherish and celebrate her life are her children, Douglas Hagley, Debra (Greg) Groat, Michael (Susan) Hagley, and Timothy (Diana) Hagley; her five grandchildren, Charity (Wade) Lincoln, Della (Pete) Salinas, Nathan (Connie) Czarnik, Courtney (Richie) Rolfe, and Jacob Hagley; her nine great-grandchildren, Aaron and Steven Cobb, Chase Czarnik, Meg and Chip Lincoln, Isobel Salinas, and Delia, Charlotte, and Edward Rolfe. Virginia is also survived by two sisters, Lillian Pieniozek and Karen DeLong; along with several nieces and nephews. Virginia was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Louis, on November 25, 2015; her parents, Frank and Delia Moore; her brother Clifford Moore; and sister, Shirley Frank. Per Virginia’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Virginia’s life will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the gentlemen of MMR, the staff of St. Mary’s Ascension Hospital- Saginaw, Compassus Hospice, and Northeast Michigan Home Health Care for all their assistance and compassion.
