Obituary of Tye D Bonter

Tye D Bonter of Midland passed away on February 4, 2021 at 94 years old. He was born on June 5, 1926 to David and Virginia (née Arman) Bonter in Flint, Mich. He spent his childhood in Flint, attending Bendle High School. He married Geraldine Fobert on June 27, 1946 in Midland. He worked in welding engineering and as an inspector for The Dow Chemical Company, retiring in 1982. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, first enlisting at the age of 16. Tye loved to love people. He enjoyed his large family, countless close friends, traveling, and retiring to Mackinaw City and Arizona. He worshipped the Lord fervently and was a member at several Seventh Day Adventist Churches in Wickenburg, Arizona as well as Cheboygan, Saginaw, Central Lake, Midland, Cadillac, and Cedar Lake, Michigan. He served as an elder and deacon at several of these wonderful churches. He was always working on a large project, and was overly generous to those he loved. Tye is survived by his loving wife of 74 years Geraldine; sister Marjorie Haven; children Dawn (Pat) Briggs, Janet (Jack) Garner, David Bonter, and Susan (Gene) Fass; grandchildren Pat (Kim) Briggs, Brian (Carmen) Briggs, Tom Garner, Shari (Eric) O’Boyle, Kari (Maria) Garner, Michael Garner, Janeil (David) DiVita, Jennifer (Steve) Doyle, Emilee Bonter, Lori (Framo) Rimoni, Heather (Paul) Bergmann, Scott Draves, Jeremy Draves, Matt (Shelly) Draves; great-grandchildren Taylor (Phil), Patrick, Morgan, Preston, Carson, Steel (Hannah), Stryker, Brandon, Zachary, Alyssa (Ryan), Jacob, Tyson, Jada, Gianni, Gabriella, Kayla, Lauren, Mackenzie, Kristina (Joe), Justin (Mercedes), Braden, Ryleigh, Dylan, Josh (Cheyenne), Alexa, Sage, Sarah, Jorja, Jackson, Owen, and Sophia; and great-great-grandchildren Theodore, Ila Rose, and Josephine. All of these he loved and touched deeply. Tye was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Ralph Life, aunt and uncle Minnie and Theodore Bonter, brother Lloyd Bonter, and great grandsons Ryan Rimoni and Tye Bergmann.
