Lawrence “Larry” Michael Maloney, age 80, passed away February 13, 2021. A beloved son, brother and uncle, Larry was born in Wichita, Kansas June 3, 1940 to Carl Vincent and Honore Maloney. Larry had an idealistic childhood, growing up the youngest in a family of five children with brothers Jim, Gerry, Terry and sister Janet. He attended Chaplain Kapaun Memorial High School and graduated from Creighton University in 1960 while also completing Air Force ROTC. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, and served at Dyess AFB, Texas as a Nuclear and Missile Operations Officer. After his Honorable Discharge from the Air Force following his term of service, Larry worked in multiple career fields, finally finding his niche with computer and information technology, where he managed payroll for the Pizza Hut Corporation. Larry retired from Pizza Hut Corporation in 2003 and moved to the Hill Country of Texas. He never stopped pursuing education, and he completed a Master’s Degree in 2006. In 2015, Larry moved to Michigan to be closer to family. He enjoyed traveling, Creighton and Wichita State and Kansas basketball, the outdoors, walking, reading, and history. He was affectionately known as “Gruncle” Larry among the Maloney grandchildren. He was a devout Catholic and found comfort in his faith throughout his life. He will be missed by all of his nieces, nephews, and the entire Maloney family. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com
