Obituary of Melvin Bruce Davis

Davis, Melvin Bruce Prudenville, MI (formerly of Saginaw and Bay City) Melvin passed away March 8, 2021at the age of 80 years. He was born May 24, 1940 in Saginaw to the late John Moses and Rosetta Bruce Davis. Mel grew up on a small family farm in Buena Vista Twp. in Saginaw County. After graduation from Saginaw High School, he began a Patternmaker apprenticeship with General Motors at Grey Iron Foundry. Melvin then married Sandra McIntosh and they began their family. Mel was active in community service through The Buena Vista Lions Club and The Buena Vista Jaycees, where he became a JCI Senator. From the Jaycee Creed, he adopted his personal motto ~ Service to humanity is the best work of life. After retirement, Mel and his family became very active with Bay County Habitat for Humanity. He served on their Board of Directors and oversaw the construction of several “forever homes” for deserving partner families. Mel is survived by one son, Patrick John; a daughter-in-law, Sue Ann Bennett Davis; grandsons, Joshua M., Justin M. (Erin), and Brandon J. (Alexandrea);great-grandchildren, Emily, Rylee, Declan, Blake, Mackenzie, Charlotte and Olivia Davis.; a sister, Marjorie Mize of Cullman Alabama; and a very dear friend, Katherine Manneback of Prudenville. Mel was predeceased by sons, Jeffrey Alan, Gregory Mack and Michael Brian Davis; brothers, Kenneth and John Jr.; and sister, Marlene Davis. In keeping with Mel’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
