Obituary of John William Comment

John W. Comment, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the age of 70 years old. John was born on July 28, 1950 to the late Eugene and Vernita (Bliss) Comment. He attended Owendale-Gagetown High School where he was an avid football and basketball player, graduating with the class of 1968. He retired from Lee Wood Contracting in Essexville and was a proud owner of JR Center Road Bar for thirty plus years. John united in marriage to Sherry Walraven on September 3, 2003, and the couple cherished many years together. John was a sports enthusiast for Norte Dame Football and Tigers Baseball, proud coach for JR Center Road Bar women’s softball team, enjoyed hunting out-of-state in the mountains, working outdoors in his yard, cooking, playing Euchre, gambling in Las Vegas and traveling the world with his wife and family. Regardless of any circumstance, he was always there for his daughters to lend a helping hand, provide a shoulder to cry on or offer words of encouragement. He adored cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandsons for sports, musicals, teaching them about the stock market and encouraging them to always put their best foot forward. John is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Comment, three daughters; Christine Linton, Kimberly (Brian) Ulman, Toni (Brian) Tacey, eight grandchildren; Danielle (PJ) Jordy, Zohreh Mahmoudi, Jenna Linton, Jonathan Mahmoudi, Clair Ulman, Kassidy Ulman, Alexis Linton, Hailey Ulman, two great-grandchildren; Mason and Jaxson Jordy; sibling; Patti (John) Arvoy; best of friends, Mike Jacobs and Gary (Jan) Socia. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Sherry (Wiley) Woodard and grand-daughter Krystalyn Hope. Honoring John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
