Obituary of Larry Ted Somers

Somers, Larry T. Henderson, Michigan Passed away on April 30, 2021, at the age of 74. He was born on January 21, 1947, to the late Ted and Kathryn (Tattersall) Somers, in Owosso, Michigan. He was a member of the class of 1965 at Chesaning High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after two years (1966-1968). He was then employed by General Motors for thirty years (1968-1998). Larry was an avid sportsman, hunting and fishing with his brothers and daughter year ‘round. He loved entertaining and cooking for others. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, discussing politics, watching sports, and making others laugh. He is survived by best friend, Linda Bohil Somers, to whom he was married for twenty-two years; daughter-in-law, Anne Cartier Somers; son, Michael Somers (Daniel Dwyer-Snyder); daughter, Amy Somers Simmons (E.G. Simmons); grandchildren, Joshua Somers, Zackery DuBois, Seth Somers, Tyler Somers, Kaitlin Somers, and Lucas Snyder-Somers; and great-granddaughter, Ava Somers. He is also survived by his siblings, Marvin Somers, Nora Somers Spencer, Sarah Somers Hobson (Robert Hobson), Wayne Somers (Andrea Godfrey Somers), Michele Somers Hart (Edward Hart), Margaret Somers Duford (Ross Duford), and Marilyn Somers Kantzer (Kurt Kantzer); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by beloved eldest son, Brian Somers; brother, William Somers; and grandparents Ted and Margaret Somers. A cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. A private celebration of Larry’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Michigan United Conservation Clubs in his honor.
