Obituary of Bruce Clifford Bentley

Bruce Clifford Bentley, age 80, of Gladwin, died Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Bruce was born in Pontiac on June 3, 1941 to Clifford and Delia (Pittenger) Bentley. He was a resident of Waterford for sixty years and was a Journeyman Millwright at General Motors, retiring after thirty years of service. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and his community as a volunteer member of the Waterford Township Fire Fighters Association for fourteen years. He loved to fish, hunt, and work on anything American made with an engine in it, especially old 191. He loved his lifelong friends from his days as a youth in Waterford, a good number of whom flew model airplanes with him at school. He also loved the friends he made in the last twenty years while he lived out his life as he wished in the country near Gladwin. Surviving him are three children, Christine (Jim) Phillips, Robert (Lisa) Bentley, and Brian (Rachel) Bentley; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Esther (Hank) Callahan and Irene (Keith) Roettger; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by significant others, Cheryl Wendt and Florine Antcliff. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service, at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 3795 Sashabaw Road, Waterford MI. A luncheon will follow the service. Per his wishes, Bruce has been cremated and his ashes will be distributed at locations having special significance to him during his life.
