Obituary of Carol Ann Lankenau
CAROL ANN LANKENAU
July 30, 1946 - January 30, 2022
Carol Ann Lankenau died of complications of kidney failure on January 30, 2022. She was born in Saginaw MI, the daughter of Jane (Kurtz) Lankenau and Carl Lankenau. She attended Carrollton public schools and after graduating in the first graduation class at Carrollton High School she enrolled at Central Michigan University. Upon arrival at CMU she was very unhappy to learn that women could not be in the marching band, a role reserved for men in the dark ages of the 1960's.
After graduation from CMU she began her teaching career at Bangor Junior High School (now Christa McAuliffe Middle School.) After 7 years she moved across the parking lot to John Glenn High School where she taught English for 25 years. After retiring from John Glenn she continued teaching at both Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University.
In addition to her love of teaching English, Carol was active in Grace United Methodist Church, attending worship and participating in activities at church.
Carol was also a big time football fan. She rarely missed a John Glenn home game and also followed the team on the road. After retirement she continued in her football fan ways, attending and watching games every fall weekend.
Carol also loved her dogs. Haley, Sadie and Teddy brought her hours of joy and companionship for many years.
According to Carol's wishes cremation has already taken place under the care of the Cremation Society of Mid-Michigan.
Interment will take place at a later date.
Memorial donations may be sent to Grace United Methodist Church, 42676 Two Mile Road, Bay City MI 48706. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com
