One thing I remember most about Uncle Doug was the laugh that came up from his toes! He had the greatest laugh - and a sense of adventure that was unsurpassed by anyone else I ever knew. He took me for my first-ever airplane ride; soaring high above Saginaw Bay for a view of creation that was unmatched. He also took me on my first-ever motorcycle ride, and most every time we got to visit was an adventure. He indeed was the penultimate bargain hunter. When he asked "What do you need," you better well need it, because you would get it and then some. I'm so grateful that I was able to sit with him and pray with him - sing with him, and be part of the gift of his walking into the arms of his Lord Jesus because he was always such a gift to me.

My name is Kelly. I am Doug Harwood's youngest daughter.
My husband asked me recently what my favorite memory of my dad was and I said, without hesitation, EVERYTHING.
My dad was love personified. He was a mentor, a counselor, a church educator, the neighborhood doctor and a safe haven for family and friends too numerous to count.
My house growing up not only housed our family, but usually a soul in need. Whether it was a family member, an employee or a long list of our friends who needed refuge, he welcomed everyone into his home and heart without judgement and with open arms.
Everything was an adventure, which is why I struggle to pinpoint just one memory. He succeeded in making the most out of life, caring more about others than himself. He led people to face their fears because he believed that life was to short to be afraid.
This picture shows just that. Dad and my son, Ryan at 4 on the roof of our house. Notice the ease and security, Grandpa taught him that!
I love you Daddy, up to God ❤️
