Please share a memory of Douglas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Douglas James Patterson, age 62, of Owosso, Michigan, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer. Doug was born December 15, 1960, in Jackson, Michigan, the son of Janet (Wenzlick) Lemos of Owosso and Robert K. Patterson of Hudson, Florida. He graduated from Owosso High School in the class of 1979. After graduation, he joined the Marines, serving in Camp LeJune and overseas. He went on to pursue a career in sales, and later returned to college to get a degree in business management. He was an entrepreneur in many fields.
He had three beautiful children; Allen LePard, Janet Patterson and Douglas Patterson II, all from Owosso; and one granddaughter, Lyric, that brought joy to his life. He always had a big smile for his "Baby Girl."
Doug will always be remembered for his sense of humor and kindness to others. He didn't hesitate to help anyone who was down on their luck. Even when he was sick, he continued to keep us laughing. It was rare to ever see Doug without a smile or telling a joke, no matter what kind of day he was having.
Doug is survived by his parents, Janet and Ken Lemos; children, Allen (Adrienne), Janet (Shaq), and DJ (Ashley); brother, Yogi (Sue) Patterson of Houghton Lake; a sister, Kim Murphy; nephews, Wade Patterson and Grayson, Patrick (Brittany) Murphy, Jayden and Caleb (Christina) Patterson, Clayton and Cooper of Farewell; a step-sister, Shelly Lemos-Rowley; along with aunts and cousins.
He leaves behind some very special friends that loved him very much, especially, Jan Andrews, Bruce Bivens, Bob and Brian Hagen, and David Sautter; along with other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Geraldine Schnebelt and Fredrick Wenzlick; and paternal grandparents, Pearl Bender and Robert A. Patterson.
Cremation has taken place according to Doug's wishes. A private graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-5pm, Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the American Legion Hall, 201 E. Mason St., Owosso MI 48867.
