Obituary of Donald Robert Haneline

Donald Robert Haneline, 69 of Flint, Michigan, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Ascension Genesys Hospital with his family by his side.

Don was born on September 3, 1954 to Robert and Juanita (Morgan) Haneline in Flint, Michigan. He graduated from Kearsley High School (Flint, Michigan) in 1973.

In June of 1973, Don entered the workforce as an iron worker for Flint Riggers. In 1975 he moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he worked for General Electric and Cardinal Electric Companies. In Texas, he worked for the City of Dallas Water and Street Departments. After moving back to Flint, he started his own companies Haneline and Morgan Home Improvement and Your Painter. In more recent years he worked for Lear Factory and Teachout Security.

Don’s hobbies were following the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, and professional tennis.  He also enjoyed learning about history and collected military memorabilia.

Don is survived by a son Nicolas Haneline, brother James (Carla) Kleen, sisters Linda (Ted) Doolittle and Barbara (Tom) Fetrow and nieces and nephews Nathan (Danielle) Doolittle, Natalie (Steve) Shadel, Emily (Brad) Hatch, and Allison Fetrow (Brian Gniadek), Jimmy (Cheryl) Kleen and Brent (Lauren) Kleen. He also loved his great nephews and nieces. Donald was predeceased by his parents.  In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Gift of Life Michigan or Wounded Warrior Project.
