Obituary of Janis Kenney

Please share a memory of Janis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Janis Lynn (Miller) Kenney, born November 13, 1954, of Grand Ledge, Michigan, entered into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on August 22, 2024 after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. Surrounded by her loving family, Jan’s final days were a testament to the strength and warmth that defined her life.

The daughter of Lawrence D. (Louise) Miller and Betty Jean (Moore) Miller, Janis grew up with a deep appreciation for family and community. She dedicated over 35 years to caring for children as a devoted daycare provider, a role in which her compassion and nurturing spirit shone brightly. She truly loved and cherished every child she ever had the privilege of caring for.

Janis was a passionate baker and talented seamstress, skills she shared generously with those around her. Her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as well as time spent with friends and family, was a cherished part of her daily life. Her infectious love and joy touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Ron Kenney, along with her three beloved children, Amy (Dennis) O’Keefe, Joseph (Abby) Kenney, and David (Taylor) Kenney who carry forward her legacy of love and dedication. Her love continued to generously spill out at the enthusiastic arrival of each grandchild, Olivia, Reagan, Keelan, Roanan and John Joseph O’Keefe, Emily Horrocks, and Easton and Everett Stevens. She is also survived by sisters, Julie (David) Davison, and Bethany Brady; and countless in-laws; beloved nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins, and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gregory L. Miller; and father-in-law, Bruce N. Kenney.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
