Obituary of Aleta "Lete" Aumann

Aumann, Aleta M. Sebewaing, MI Aleta, much-loved mom, grandma, great grandma, and friend, died February 11, 2016, age 92. She was born March 11, 1923, to the late David and Nellie (Swackhamer) Bauer of Pt. Austin, MI. She moved to Sebewaing, MI, after marrying Herman R. Aumann, who preceded her in death in 1999. Lete had a full and interesting life. Her many jobs included being one of the 'Rosie the Riveters' at the Rouge plant during World War II. She learned the delicacies of cooking and baking at her mother's side when her mother cooked for families in Pt. Aux Barques, MI, in the summer. Lete's family and friends would later reap the rewards of delicious homemade 'from-scratch' baked goods and meals, often with food from Herm's garden. She also artfully arranged the flowers he grew for their home and others. Lete enjoyed all of nature: the view inside from her windows, outside tending to the yard's trees and flowers, sometimes catching a nap in the sun on her lawn. The snowfall this past week was a gift to her, someone who would find the many inches of winter snow, "Beautiful!" Her home was decorated by the season, inside and also outside for those passing by, and usually made by hand. She was a lover of 40's Big Band music and danced as often as she could, even while polishing the kitchen floor. Playing bridge was a true passion. She knew the game well enough to teach it to others in community classes and played bridge into her 90's on her computer, allowing her to meet bridge players from around the world. She experienced her greatest loss recently, when her younger son Marty, died in August 2015. He was a later-in-life blessing to his mom and dad, and his whole family. Left to remember Lete's caring, her fun and witty sense of humor and her valuable example of how to help others along life's way, are her son, David (Linda Divo) Aumann; daughter, Janet (Bert) Bleke; daughter-in-law, Mary Aumann; grandchildren, Aaron, Walker, Brendan, and Brianne Aumann, Erica Bleke, Brooke Bleke (Stephen) DeLassus; great-grandchildren, Taylor Aumann and Oscar DeLassus. A brother, Eugene Bauer, also preceded her in death. The family gives heartfelt thanks to mom's caregivers: Deb Myers, the staff of both Pigeon Long Term Care and Heartland Hospice, and her long-time wonderful friends who faithfully visited her. Per Lete's wishes, there will not be a memorial service. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com Sympathy Store items must be sent directly to the family home.
