Obituary of Clarence "Slim" E. Millikin

Clarence Edward Millikin "Slim", age 87, passed away peacefully January 30, 2018 at Vassar Fields Assisted Living surrounded by his family. He was born on August 8, 1930 in Caro, Michigan to Clarence and Nita (Campbell) Millikin. He married Jane Hauger on January 23, 1954. She predeceased him on April 22, 2012. After attending Vassar High School, he joined the U.S. Army, he served from 1949 to 1953. He was very proud of his service and to serve his country during the Korean War. He was one of the "Chosen Few". He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. After the army he was active in the V.F.W. and the American Legion. After the Army he worked in manufacturing before starting his own business, H&M Disposal. Selling the business, he then went to work for General Motors until he retired in 1992. Slim and Jane together had four sons and two daughters; Gerald and Kari Millikin, Denise Dembowske, LeRoy and Alice Millikin, Timothy and Kim Millikin, Kimberly and Brian Brown , Brian and Cathy Millikin; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Donna Clink, Judy O'Keefe, Nancy Wuelfing, and Sue Martin. He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister, Jim, Clare "Fat, Richard "Dick", Harley, Milton "Sonny" and Barbara Shields; and a son-in-law, Gene Dembowske. The family would like to give a special Thank You to First State Hospice of Saginaw, and to all the "Girls" at Vassar Fields for their excellent care. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church at 334 Division Street in Vassar, Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial contribution to the charity of the donor's choice.
