Obituary of Samuel E. Johnson
Samuel E. Johnson died peacefully on Monday, March 19th, 2018 after 78 years on this beautiful earth. He was raised in Franklin, West Virginia, a place Sam staunchly referred to as "God's Country."
Son of Edwin Johnson and Marjorie Warner Johnson, Sam attended the Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Following his education, he joined the Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Upon completion of his military service, he later became an Agency Manager for Modern Woodmen of America Life Insurance. Sam was a serviceman, insurance guy, Shriner, and inventor having developed the Answer Products Muzzle Brake system.
An outdoorsmen at heart, Sam enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fly fishing in the Au Sable River in northern Michigan.
Sam shared 45 years of marriage to Melrose Johnson, who preceded him in death in 2012. He leaves behind one daughter Linda "Sue" (Robert) Gladstone. Two granddaughters Cortney (James) Kentfield and Sarah Gladstone, and a couple of fantastic great-grandchildren: Lily and Jack.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Shriners International, an organization near and dear to Sam's heart.
