Judy, Joan and Gene and Families,
Your dear mother was a wonderful and talented lady. As a child, I was one of many that accompanied my mother and dad to the grocery in Wilmot. That was where our family shopped for our groceries and gas. Luncheon meat (freshly sliced to order by Lottie), fresh meat, produce, bread and paper products - whatever you needed, they had it!
Lottie was not only a retailer, she was a dear friend, and confidant, who cared deeply for everyone who came to her grocery.
Just before your dad passed, as I was driving by their home in Kingston, I saw the two of them outside working as a team to spray clean their windows. What a dear couple! Gene had the hose, and Lottie had the cleaning supplies....even at their advance age they were out there tackling a job - together. I turned my car around and pulled into their yard. I introduced myself and received the biggest hug from both of them! Yes! They remembered me, and of course my family. They were thrilled to reminisce about days past and catch up on what was happening now. It was such a touching sight, seeing the two of them working together to tackle a project, as they had done so effortlessly together for 66 years!
On behalf of myself and my entire family, please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of your dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. May you have comfort in knowing that she touched the lives of so many people, and was an important part of our lives growing up. Dear Lottie! United again with the love of your life, rest in eternal peace and comfort in the arms of God.
