Janis Loiselle

Obituary of Janis (Adkins, Howell) Loiselle

Janis Loiselle (Adkins, Howell) left this world on Thursday, November 22, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Thanksgiving was her second favorite holiday. What a great life she lived! Mom was genuinely concerned with how people were doing rather than what they were doing. All of Jan's dogs, birds and grandchildren were shamelessly spoiled. She was charming, had excellent taste, and would cut to the heart of an issue with a few well- chosen words. Jan was born in West Des Moines, Iowa to Wathal and Mable Adkins on January 1, 1947. She went to Valley High School, graduated in 1965 and attended Simpson College before marrying Stephen Howell. Jan and Steve moved to Michigan, where they raised two biological children, Carrie and Marc, and four foster children, Jamie, Rob, Junior, and Tammy in Twining, Michigan. Jan went to Kirtland College where she received her Associates Degree in nursing in 1992. She married Larry Loiselle in 1994 and lived with him in Carrollton, Michigan until his passing in 2018. Jan cared for patients as an RN on the night shift at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, Michigan for 18 years. At work she mentored new nurses and made everyone around her laugh with crazy pet stories. Jan is survived by children; Marcus Howell, Carrie (Greg) Wilson; stepsons Larry Loiselle Jr., Brent Loiselle, and Derek Loiselle; grandchildren Stephanie, Rita, Hope, and Ella Wilson, Kassidy and Landen Loiselle; Brittney and Brianna Noonan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Loiselle; her brothers, Clair Adkins, Don Adkins, and Larry Adkins; and her parents Wathal and Mable Adkins. A memorial service will be held at Anderson Enrichment Center in Saginaw, Michigan on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 12 Noon. Per their wishes, Jan and Larry's ashes will be spread at the Headwaters of the Metolius River, near Bend, Oregon at a future date. The family is grateful to Cindy Robbins and Vicky Higgins at Country Square Adult Foster Home in Auburn, MI. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Country Square or the Alzheimer's research foundation of your choice. Success "To laugh often and love much; To win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; To earn the approbation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To give of one's self; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived- This is to have succeeded." --- Ralph Waldo Emerson
