Mrs. Rose DePrekel passed away on Sunday July 7, 2019 at MidMichigan Medical Center, age 96. Rose, aka "Mim" or "Tun", was born March 22, 1923 in Essexville, MI to the late Edward and Irene Metevia.
Rose showed love, kindness, and generosity to everyone and loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed winters in Florida with sister Joan Cleary and her nieces. She enjoyed gardening, especially yellow roses, working Word Search Puzzles, and spending time at her Gladwin cabin.
Her faith was very important to her. Rose was a long time member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Parish, Bay City, Michigan. She had a positive attitude, remained active, and enjoyed her full independence until the very end of her life.
Rose is survived by her children, Christine (Jim) Gabriel; Daniel (Barbara) Sheehan; Steven (Candy) Sheehan; daughter-in-law, Anne Sheehan; step-son, Daniel (Gail) DePrekel; grandchildren, Melissa Zaluski, Jeremy Gabriel, Scott Sheehan, Kyle Sheehan Trevor Sheehan, Elizabeth Larsen, Bernardo Gutierrez, and Carols Gutieriez,
Douglas DePrekel, Kristofer DePrekel, Nicholaus DePrekel, Nina Marie DePreke,l and Laura Lynn Feigel.
Rose was predeceased by her husband Francis Felix "Pip" DePrekel; son, Edward Sheehan; step-son, William DePrekel; and step-daughter, Kira DePrekel.
In celebration of Rose's life, her funeral will be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (formerly St. Mary's), 607 E. South Union, Bay City, MI on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with Father John Sarge officiating. A reception will immediately follow the mass.
Those unable to attend the Saturday mass can attend mass at Our Lady of Peace on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. where Rose will be remembered in the "Intentions and Mentions". Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org.
