Obituary of Sandra L. Herbst
Herbst, Sandra "Sandy"
Saginaw, Michigan
Sandra Lee Herbst, 72 of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Sunday, August 4th, 2019. Sandra (Sandy) was born to the late Orville Taylor and Mary Jane (Klein) Johnston in Bay City, Michigan on August 25, 1946.
Although living most of her life in Michigan, Sandy often spoke fondly of the time she spent as a child living in Japan where her father was stationed in the service. Sandy received her Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education from Saginaw Valley State University and taught in the Saginaw Public School system for over 25 years, retiring in 2009. Sandy's passion and commitment to teaching inspired all of her students to achieve their fullest potential. Sandy loved the views and smells of the ocean, finding hidden gems or treasures while antiquing, and sharing her love of books and learning. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them. Sandy instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed.
Mrs. Herbst is survived by her 3 children; Howard (Julie) Deal of Freeland, Michigan, Chris (Jennifer) Deal of Hopkinton, Massachusetts and Becky Deal of Atlanta, Georgia. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Brittney Deal, Beau Deal and Hannah Deal, and 2 great grandchildren; Trenton Deal and Tynleigh Bergevin.
A private family graveside service was held at Chapel Hill Cemetery. The family would like to thank those who have shown their love and support over the past few months. Those who are planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to the Public Libraries of Saginaw www.saginawlibrary.org.
