Thank-you for sharing your memories of Mr K, as I've always referred him as. We all remember different stories & they're fun to hear about.
I remember when he was selling shoes & would bring home tennis shoes for everyone-my feet were big even then so he'd laugh & say that I could wear the box! I'd just snort at him. Joyce & he treated me like one of the kids. Take me out to dinner & even on vacations to the lake. What a huge treat for me!!
It's always harder on the remaining friends & family when a loved one passes. He is so missed.....

As my sister Rebecca said, we spent many weekends with the Kinnison's. I was the youngest of the group, so I didn't always get to hang-out with the older kids. I do remember their dachshund, Gus, and how I was the only one that could touch his feet! He and I would sleep on the couch together.
Gerry was always a source of comfort to my mom and she so enjoyed talking with him about the "good old days." She liked having someone that could share her memories of their younger years. And he would always get a hold of me if he thought our care of her wasn't up to his standards! He was such a caring and fun person.
I am so sorry for your loss - he was a wonderful man.

As a child, my family and I would spend many weekends at the Kinnison house. The grownups playing cards, and us kids watching Christopher Coffin, tales of Horror. I remember hearing the grownups laughing and enjoying each other.
We lost touch as time went on. I did see "Little" Gerry about 15 years ago when I bought a chair at Value City Furniture. I was surprised that I knew who he was even before I saw his name tag.
Since my father's death in 2012, Gerry was such a comfort to my mom, Gloria. He would call her every single day. If he couldn't get a hold of her, he would call one of us to make sure she was ok. When she making her transition from her apartment, to rehab, to the assisted living place, she lives at now, he was always checking with us to make sure it was going well, and to see how her memory was.
She was so sad when she quit hearing from him. They would talk about old times, and giggle. She said that one day when she was talking with him, he said he wasn't feeling well. She never heard from him again. She said she knew something was wrong, as he never missed a day calling her.
We are grateful for all he did for mom, in keeping her spirits up, and listening to her frustrations. He was a great source of comfort for all of us.
He was such a kind man, and a wonderful caregiver to many.
I am so sorry for your loss. It is a loss for us as well. I wish I could tell him how well mom is doing these days. He would have been so pleased.
You are all in our thoughts.

I recall Gerry and his sharp wit from my days growing up with Kathy, Marsha, Gerry Jr. (and Nanette) in south Lansing. We reconnected later in life through Marsha and my antiques business. A man after my own heart, Gerry told it like it was. My sincere condolences to the family.
