Obituary of Gerry L. Kinnison

Gerry L. Kinnison, age 88, of Bay City MI, formerly of Lansing MI, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 21, 2019. He was born on May 5, 1931 to the late Mark and Mary Kinnison. Gerry was employed for Sears and Roebuck in East Lansing, MI. for many years before moving to Bay City, MI. where he owned and operated Gerry's Lawn Sprinkler Service prior to his retirement. Gerry will be remembered for his love of life, his many stories, his great wit and sense of humor, and his love for the game of golf. Gerry is survived by his children, Kathleen (David) Kinnison Carrico of Linwood, MI, Marsha (Mark) Zimmer of Kawkawlin, MI, Gerry Jr. (Judy) Kinnison of Holt, MI, honorary daughter, Nanette Lyons of Bay City, MI; and two grandchildren Adam and Luke Kinnison. Gerry is also survived by his beloved second family, step children, Robert (Judy) Porterfield of Clarklake, MI, Steve Porterfield of Bay City, MI, Diane Schumann of Bay City, MI; and five step-grandchildren, Brett and Brandon Porterfield, Haylee and Hunter Porterfield and Michael Schumann. Gerry was predeceased by his wife Joyce Kinnison; step-son Doug Porterfield; and four brothers and sisters, Mark Kinnison, Hugh Kinnison, Joy Rawson and June Wells. Gerry will be greatly missed by both of his families, friends and neighbors. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 1pm to 3pm at Ole Tyme Broadway Restaurant, 1608 Broadway, Bay City, Michigan.
