I met Mrs. Atkins when I attended Frankenmuth High School. My family moved to 'Muth in my junior year and I had a very hard time adjusting. My grades suffered and I became very withdraw. Mrs. Atkins was my saving grace. I met with her once a week and she eased my fears, listened to my concerns and quite literally, kept me from dropping out. My life could have been very different if it had not been for the attention and genuine concern she had for me. I have often thought of her over the past 40 years, because she was such an important part of a very difficult time in my life. I was blessed to have had her to turn to. My deepest condolences to her family. Joy was one of a kind.
