Obituary of Beth Marie Scott
Beth Marie Scott, age 96, passed away peacefully Friday, October 16, 2020, with her family by her side. She was born May 31, 1924 in Waddington New York, to the late John and Isabelle Heaverly. She proudly at the age of 48, obtained her nursing degree from Delta College. She began her nursing career, working as an RN for 7 years at the Caro State Regional Center in Caro MI, retiring at the age of 55. Prior to that, she worked for 15 years for the Akron Fairgrove School District driving a bus. While proudly serving as an active member of her community, she with strong dedication, became the Mayor of the Village of Akron, Tuscola County Michigan, and served from 1996-1997. Beth was also a lifelong and faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairgrove MI. A very special thank you to Pastor Joshua Haller, who continues to serve in the Lord's house. Beth married the love of her life, Ralston "Scotty" Scott on February 10, 1961 in Akron Michigan. Together they began an amazing life of hard work, travel, and absolutely loved golfing with one another for many years. Together they joined and welcomed their children from their previous marriages. She had many amazing hobbies and skills, such as golfing, sewing, embroidery, jewelry making, working with clay, calligraphy, painting, knitting, crocheting, and playing cards with family and friends.
She and her daughter Sara would create the most amazing and beautiful quilts, hand crafted from the heart, gifting them to her forever grateful grandchildren, friends, and family. She made blankets, embroidered clothes, towels, table runners, and tons of holiday items that were absolutely a pure treat for those friends and the church that received them. She had so many amazing talents and loved sharing her creations with those she cherished. She was as proud as she could be of her family, friends, and especially her daughter Sara Palmer, absolute best friend, who survives her.
Beth touched many lives with her dedication and her "well known" strong opinion…telling it like it is, something we will reminisce and laugh about for the rest of our lives. We will treasure her advice, wisdom, sense of humor, love, and friendship that she gave to each and everyone of us. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Like a bird singing in the beautiful spring, our grateful memories with her will survive and live in our hearts forever. Beth lived the last 2 years of her life, as a resident at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living in Bay City, Michigan. There she treasured making all new friends and was treating amazingly by all of the staff. A special thank you to Ashley. We thank you and remain forever grateful to all of you.
Beth is survived by her daughter, Sara (Tracy) Palmer; grandchildren, Randall (Stacie) Becker, Matt (Geri), Mark and Mike Elston, and Derrick Becker; and many special family and friends. She was predeceased by her late husband, Ralston "Scotty"; 3 sisters, Ada, Lillian, & Mary Lou; son, Tom Becker; daughter, Barbara Elston; and grandson, Scott Becker.
Respecting Beth's wishes, a private service for immediate family is being planned for a later date. She will be placed next to her husband to rest in peace for all eternity.
