Obituary of William Wistehuff

Wistehuff, William Eugene (Gene) Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on October 19, 2020, at the age of 81. He was born on July 23, 1939 to Clyde and Leona (Cothern) Wistehuff in Taylorville, Illinois. A precious husband, father, grandfather and friend who went to his Heavenly reward after a brief illness. Gene attended Taylorville High School, graduating in 1957, after becoming an Eagle Scout in 1954. He attended Missouri School of Mines, receiving a BS (1961) and MS (1963) in Metallurgical Engineering. He was a member of Acacia Fraternity. He joined General Motors at Central Foundry in 1963, later being appointed supervisor of the Current Products Laboratory, retiring in 1998. Gene was active in the American Society for Metals, The Society of Automotive Engineers, Habitat for Humanity, and held many committee appointments at his church, Saginaw First United Methodist. He enjoyed golf, photography, travel, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends at his cottage up north. He is survived by his wife, Carla Piazza Wistehuff; daughter, Laura (Mark) Byerly; son, William (Stacey) Wistehuff II; grandchildren, Aly, Anya, Brendan, and Shannan Byerly, and Regan Wistehuff; stepson, Drew (Ashley) Piazza; sisters-in-law, Debbi Kile and Kristy Taylor; and a host of wonderful friends. According to Gene's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at a later, and safer, time. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church of Saginaw, Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society of Saginaw County or Saginaw City Rescue Mission.
